Marvins i Magic

It’s time for magic to take a step into the fast paced modern era and team up with technology. Marvins I Magic set combines both magic and phone technology in one inexpensive set.

Marvins Magic have been around since 1987, selling many types of Magic kits, usually aimed at youngsters and some of them rather bizzare.

The box contains around 13 props which give approximately 20 different tricks.

It all comes rather neatly presented with each thing having its own little spot and it seems a shame to take it all out and mess it up. The props are all good quality unlike some Magic sets which are full of junk. Ryan being a keen magician has had a few sets in his 11 years and this seems one of the better ones.

Inside the box, is all of these props.

  • A pack of cards
  • A giant card
  • Three mini cards
  • A disappearing card box
  • A Marvin’s Magic membership card
  • Six augmented reality card
  • An iMagic Morph book
  • A ‘frozen’ fly and mechanism for trick
  • Two tumblers
  • Two fly swatters

The first thing we needed to do was to download the Marvins app which is used for the tricks. We have iPhones which it so far works ok on. I have read android users can also get the app.

The majority of the tricks involve using the props with the phone and involve video effects and illusions so it’s a little like augumented reality, or I think that’s what they call it. Each trick comes with videos showing how to perform them. Some are easier than others and some do not require props but just the app itself.

Like most Magic tricks, these tricks also require the magician to be fast and clever. One of the more simple tricks involves a book where the pages mysteriously change from blank to black& white to colour pages. The trick is really simple and if done correctly it will have friends and family baffled.

Of course as we are now all magicians in training we are unable to reveal how it’s done.

This imagic kit is designed with kids in mind and is suitable for those 8 and over. It costs anything from £15-£25 and available in many toy shops, Amazon and on Marvins Magic own website for £24.99.

It’s such a shame no one can come up with a Magic set to clean my house or give me the winning lotto numbers before Christmas! Oh well I can dream.
