Unwind – How To Find Time For Yourself As A Fulltime Mother

Mothers spend a ridiculous amount of time working. Even when you aren’t at work, your job is to keep your children alive and in check. Besides cleaning, cooking, and any other chores you may be laboured with, finding time for yourself is often as realistic as finding a unicorn in your back yard. However, there are certain tips that you can try to make a little more time for yourself.

You have to make time for yourself otherwise you’ll go mad and burn yourself out. Here’s what you need to do…

1. Pick a hobby that you can do from home

As lovely as it would be to be able to wake up at 6am every morning and hit the waves at the beach, unfortunately many of us are unable to enjoy such freedom. However, that’s not to say that you cannot pursue a healthy habit and hobby from home.

Choose something that you can pick up fairly easily. For example: why don’t you invest in an easel and start painting? Art is a wonderful creative pursuit that has some amazing mental health benefits as well. That, and you won’t need to dedicate a lot of time getting to and from your hobby as it is something that can be done at home.

Just make sure that you create a dedicated space and let everyone in the house know that this is your time! Even if it’s half an hour, it’s time to yourself.

2. Come out to play once the kids have gone to bed

The second their heads hit the pillow and you close the door behind you, dance your way to the fridge and crack open a bottle of wine. Put on your favourite movie or TV series and do whatever you fancy!

Certainly, most nights may be swallowed up by your chores but try to dedicate several nights to yourself each week at the very least.

3. Have fun with your kids

Of course, you might not always be able to get away from your kids but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself. If you have a hobby that you enjoy, such as painting, then why not introduce them to your hobby as well?

Yes, sharing time with your children can become exhausting at times, but if you can trick them into doing what you want to do as often as possible, you won’t feel so drained at the end of each week.

4. Teach your children to be independent

You should endeavour to teach your children a little independence as early as possible. They should not need you 24/7! OK, changing nappies and caring for small children is different, but once they reach a certain age they need to start doing some things for themselves.

Set them chores and be strict with it. You can save yourself a lot of time by delegating some easier tasks to them, such as taking out the trash and washing the dishes.

5. Have a long bath and lock the bathroom door

You should treat yourself to the occasional hot bath and make sure you lock the bathroom door while you are at it. Light some candles and crack open a bottle of wine. You can even buy dildos online to spice it up and really make your ‘you time’ extra special. Kill two birds with one stone: your daily wash and your daily orgasm – perfect.
