Try to exercise more often

Exercise has a direct correlation to weight loss. Essentially the more you exercise the more weight you are likely to lose – as long as you are not overeating more. The more you exercise during the week, the more calories you will burn, putting you into a calorie deficit. The greater the deficit is each day, the more weight you are likely to lose. The number of calories that you will burn when exercising will vary depending on the workout you are doing and how long you do it. For example, an hour of squash can burn over 1000 calories, whereas a run will burn around 600 calories. This doesn’t mean running isn’t as good, it’s just a different way of exercising. Another tip would be to exercise with a friend. This way you can both hold each other accountable and motivate yourselves to go out and exercise together. This could be in the form of playing a sport together like tennis or going to the gym, joining a sports team or running together.

Aim to eat five pieces of fruit and vegetables a day alongside drinking plenty of water. Whenever you have a meal, try to add some levels of green to it, this way you know you are benefitting from the nutrients goods food brings. If you are unsure of the nutritional benefits of what you are eating, there are plenty of apps you can download which will help you track and explain the positives and negatives of what you are eating.

We know it may be hard to completely stop drinking alcohol – as let’s face it, we enjoy a drink (or two) on a Friday or Saturday night – but reducing the amount you drink can have a big benefit to your life and help you lose weight. Moderation is the key work here. Enjoy a few drinks instead of drinking too much and have a drink in moderation. The better you get at this, the more weight you are likely to lose and the quicker you feel better about yourself.

Don’t overindulge

We’ve all been there, our partner has just said they are full leaving half the meal on their plate and then we go and eat the rest. This is overindulging and if we’ve finished our meal, do we really need another? When you are losing weight this can be detrimental, so try and reduce the number of times you finish your partner’s meal alongside your own. Sure you can do it every now and then – especially if it was the perfect meal – however try to cut it down.
