Various weight-reducing surgeries

Weight reducing surgeries are surgeries that are done to impact patients’ weight. These surgeries also efficiently treat health issues like high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and obesity.  Weight-reducing surgeries, also known as metabolic and bariatric surgeries, have evolved and become simpler over the period, making them very safe and beneficial for patients because of reasons like faster recovery, less pain, and fewer complications.

There are a few common weight-reducing surgeries a person can go through to treat obesity and related issues. Some of the procedures are discussed below:

Abdominoplasty

An abdominoplasty is a surgery in which excess skin and fat are removed from the abdomens along with tightening of muscles. This procedure is also known as tummy tuck and both men and women with good health and stable weight are suitable for this surgery. Women who have undergone several pregnancies can go for this procedure to tighten their muscles and reduce the stretched skin.

This procedure is also helpful for people who have excessive fat and loose skin around their abdominal area. A woman who is still planning to have kids, smokers and people with unstabilized weight must avoid going through abdominoplasty. One important thing to keep in mind is getting the surgery done by an expert such as a tummy tuck specialist, Dr. Engineer. It is a delicate process you can’t go with anyone else other than a specialist.

There are three kinds of abdominoplasty surgeries which include complete abdominoplasty, mini-abdominoplasty, and circumferential abdominoplasty. Depending on the test result, the surgeon will decide on the procedure that will suit your condition the best.

Sleeve gastrectomy

Sleeve gastrectomy is a weight-reducing procedure in which 80% of the stomach is removed and the remaining stomach looks like and is as big as a banana. The surgeons remove that part of the stomach that produces the hunger hormones and leaves you with a new stomach that has less liquid and food holding capacity.

This procedure increases the metabolism of the body, decreases hunger, and maintains the body sugar level. This procedure has no surgical side effects and is simpler and shorter. This procedure can be performed on patients with high medical conditions and is effective in improving the conditions related to obesity.

An Adjustable gastric band (AGB)

An Adjustable Gastric Band is a device that is placed at the top part of the stomach to make a small pouch above the band. This device is made of silicone and is used to limit the food intake of a person. This band gives a sense of fullness that depends on the size of the pouch. A Private Gastric Band Surgery comes with the lowest chances of complication and the patient can get their discharge on the day of surgery.. Adjustable gastric bands are removable and a person using this band has a low chance of facing mineral or vitamin deficiencies.

Gastric Bypass

Gastric bypass is also known as Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB) and is one of the most common and effective techniques of treating obesity and related conditions. In this procedure, surgeons cut the top of the stomach to create a small pouch. The pouch is then attached to the small intestine to allow the food to directly enter the small intestine bypassing the stomach. Gastric bypass is one of the most efficient ways to treat obesity as it limits the portion size and absorption of food.

Conclusion

All the above-discussed techniques are very effective and efficient in their ways. These techniques have advantages to them but disadvantages as well. To avoid the aftereffect of such a procedure one must concentrate on maintaining and permanent healthy lifestyle which includes a balanced diet and regular exercise.
