Gifts for Girls: Gel-a-Peel

Gel-a-Peel is still a fairly new product. It came out a few years back and my girls have enjoyed crafting with a few sets over the years.

Gel-a-Peel is a new way of crafting and combines a safe non toxic gluey substance with colours. Kids can they create all sorts of things, pictured. Jewellery, or decorating bags and other items.
The coloured gel comes in squeezy tubes along with applicators to attach. The gel comes out and then sets and sticks and goes harder.
One of the new sets is a special colour change kit. The coloured gel in this kit reacts to the light and will change colour.

This set contains 3 colour change gel tubes along with gel trays and templates. It’s easy to do but the finished designs don’t always resemble those pretty ones that appear on the box.

Gel-a-Peel kits vary in price. It keeps my girls busy for a while when the weather is too bad to play out.

The kits are aimed at girls ages 8 and over. I allow Izebella to also use the kits with supervision as she does have a strange tendency to put things in her mouth at the age of 5.

It doesn’t always work out how we intend it to. If the designs are too thin then they will just snap and fall apart. If they are made too thick, with too much gel then they take forever to dry and again end up breaking or never gelling properly so it does take practice to get better results. It can also get messy too so it’s best done on the floor, or on a cleanable sheet or surface.
