Dotty detective book review

Dotty detective is a Harper Collins publishing by author Clara Vulliamy.

The story, characters and overall look of the book, suggests that this is most definitely geared towards girls, it seems perfect for my 8 year old too with easy fun txt and images throughout.

Dotty detective is wrote in diary form, and is made to look like the main character (Dot) has wrote the diary herself with her own thoughts and feelings each day.

The book begins with Dot explaining to readers; in her own style, that she has recently moved house and is about to attend a new school. School events fill up the majority of the diary style pages. New friends, teachers and a bit of mystery solving, all of it in a pretty fun to read book.

There is about 165 pages in total but the wording is quite large for a paper back book of this type and most pages contain images and doodles too meaning it’s a really easy read for most children.

Dotty detective has a moderately low RRP of just £5.99. But from Amazon and most good bookstores. The recommended age for this book is 5-8 years.
