Science4you Sweet Factory

There are many fun kids science kits and sets to be found at Science4you. There award window set is this Sweet factory kit.

Ryan and Jordanna recently revieced one of these kits to test out. Ryan is a budding young scientist, he loves it and it’s his favourite subject at high school. Jordanna is perhaps not into science as much as her brother but she does love sweet and also making things.

Inside the box are lots of packets containing ingredients needed to make sweets, moulds, thermometer and other things.

The guides that come with this set contain lots of sweet recipes and experiments along with lots of useful information on sweet making and taking measurements etc.

The sweet recipes include things like jelly sweets, worms, lollies, tea cakes and drinks with varying degrees of difficulty. The majority of the recipes and experiments do require other household items and foods such as icing sugar and trays.

We found the jelly heart sweets really easy. There is lots of jelly mixture with the set in a few flavours to make them over and over again. There are other jelly sweet recipes too.

Our first attempt at the lollies was not as good. We did follow instructions but they didn’t seem to clear when it came to using a tray, there was no specification on tray size or how much cornflour to use. Unfortunately they just would not solidify. Oh well that’s the great thing about science. It doesn’t always go to plan.

We still have more sweets and experiments to do and make so I’m sure it will keep them busy over half term.

The kit helps children realise that many things we eat and some of the things we use have some sort of science behind them. A lot of the experiments involve heating liquids and using the thermometer so adults do need to help with the majority of it.

This sweet factory set would make a great Xmas gift for many science fans. It can be purchased for £19.99 directly from Science4you
