Old El Paso: Soft Taco kits

Old El Paso have bought out some easy make Taco kits.

The kits contain the tacos along with seasoning and sauces. All you have to provide is the meat, or fish and any vegetables or extra sauces you wish.

I was sent the chicken tinga and Baja fish kits and the other two varieties are Steak Carne Asada and Pork al Pastor. Each dish comes from a different region of Mexico which is of course where the Old El Paso originates.

This is the Chicken Tinga kit.

The origin of Chicken Tinga or “Tinga de Pollo” is most often attributed to the Puebla region of Mexico. Today, however, it is a popular street food throughout Mexico, especially during celebrations. The Tinga flavour is made with a mouth-watering blend of tomatoes, onions, garlic and smoked and dried jalapeños peppers known as chipotle chilies that give it a slightly smoky taste.

To make these tacos, I needed some chicken and onions. To add to the tacos I used pepper and avacado. I found the kits easy enough to make and with the preparation and cooking it took about 20 minutes.

The kits are all made in similar ways, they just use different ingredients. I found the Chicken Tinga to be mildly spiced and with a similar flavour to the Old El Paso fajita kits.

These easy meal kits are available in most supermarkets.
