Book review & Competition: Harry and Hope

I do love it whennew books arrive fory children as it means their focus is taken away from the gadgets and screens for a while. This time it was Jordannas turn for a new book with the arrival of the very sweet story – Harry and Hope.

Harry and Hope is published by Harper Collins and is the work of author Sarah Lean. It’s release date is March 12th but can be pre ordered on AMAZON for just £5.79.

Storyline – Hope lives with her artist mum in the Pyrenees. It’s always been just the two of them… until Frank – a free-spirited traveller – arrives with his donkey, Harry.

Hope and Frank form a close bond, so it’s hard for both of them when Frank decides it’s time to move on. Hope questions what she is to Frank. He’s not her dad, but he was more than just her mum’s boyfriend. Except, there’s no name for that kind of pair…

Hope promises to look after Harry and, slowly, another special pair is made – one that makes Hope realise that some friendships become part of you and, even when someone is far away, they are always near to your heart.

I had a quick read of this book before giving to Jordanna (something I always do) it seems a lovely story of a young girl on a sweet journey with her animal friend. A story of friendships, relationships and even common issues of step parents and parents partners. The book is aimed at children 9 and over but Jordanna is a very good reader and the text is very easy to read.

This for now is Jordanna’s new bedtime book which she will read a few chapter each night before going to sleep. When finished it will join the rest of our family books in our new mini library (large bookcase in hallway) for Ryan to read too if he wishes. I think this is one of those nice story’s that many children will love.
