Competition: Endgame The Calling

“Twelve thousand years ago, they came. They descended from the sky amid smoke and fire, and created humanity and gave us rules to live by. They needed gold and they built our earliest civilizations to mine it for them. When they had what they needed, they left. But before they left, they told us someday they would come back, and when they did, a game would be played. A game that would determine our future.”

The Endgame is a trilogy of adventure stories by James Frey, whose previous works include The Lorien Legacies and I Am Number Four.
Readers who can solve a series of codes, puzzles and riddles in the books will win prizes totalling well over a million pounds.
The first book, Endgame: The Calling, contains clues that will lead the first person to solve them to $50 Β£The first book, Endgame: The Calling, contains clues that will lead the first person to solve them to (Β£300,000) in gold coins.

Publishing rights have been sold to 27 countries and Mr Frey is working on the first of three films to coincide with the books, which are published by HarperCollins.

The story follows the main characters around the world to countries including the UK, Australia and China and readers have to figure out the puzzle as they go.
The clues to finding the treasure include words, maths, images and connections within the story.

The puzzle is designed by 3 MIT PhDs and if solved will lead the lucky person to the location of a hidden key. The key opens a glass case containing a massive pile of gold coins. The key however could be hidden any where in the world.

Endgame The Calling goes on sale to the public on October 7th. Many book stores are taking pre orders for this book.

The book is 450 pages long. It’s a lot to read through to try and find clues. I think I have more chance of winning the lottery than trying to decipher this book but I do like the concept of a great story being intertwined with a real worldwide treasure hunt for gold. I’m wondering if the treasure finder will be announced on the news? I imagine one would have to be extremely clever to solve the puzzle. To be honest I don’t have a clue where to start.

There’s more to the book than that too…
It also has strong ties (along with a new game) to “Ingress”, the GPS/Googlemaps based game involving capturing, hacking, controlling and linking “portals” in the real world… And there’s an Endgame game coming out soon too which is sort of an “Ingress 2”
