Brush Baby

It’s currently National Smile Month which started May 19th and runs until June 19th.
National Smile Month is a UK oral health campaign. It promotes 3 key messages which help towards a healthy mouth and teeth.

Brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste
Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks
Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend.

It is important to encourage good oral hygiene from a very early age. As soon as the first baby teeth appear (or before) brushing should begin to avoid future tooth problems. It is also important to find and register children with a dentist as soon as possible and go for regular check ups.
Unfortunately Ryan had to have some teeth removed when he was just 4 years old. I really don’t want the same thing to happen to Izebella and therefore am trying to make sure her teeth get the best care early on.

I was asked by Brush Baby to try out some of their toothcare products for Izebella.
Brush Baby sell toothcare products for babies and children aged 0-6 years. And also for children ages 6 and over. Their products include dental wipes, toothbrushes, toothpastes, flossing brushes and other products.

Izebella has been sent 3 products from the Brush Baby Toddler range.

Babysonic Electric Toothbrush £8.99
This is the first electric toothbrush I have ever seen for Izebellas age. The brush head is very tiny and the bristles very soft.

It takes 1 AAA battery which is included and the battery cover simply twists off so no need for a screwdriver.
When switched on, a light comes on and stays on for two minutes. This acts as a brushing timer and great for teaching good oral care habits from an early age. The toothbrush gives a slow gentle vibration as it cleans. This tickled Izebella at first and makes her laugh when she uses the brush. She really seems to like her new toothbrush and it even comes with a spare replacement brush head. It certainly seems much easier to use than a small manual baby brush and seems to reach all areas of her mouth easily.

Baby and Toddler Toothpaste with Xylitol 0 to 3 years £2.35

20140523-203229-73949560.jpg
The toothpaste is specially designed for toddlers and babies. It contains Xylitol and lower fluoride and has an applemint flavour which tastes more like apple than mint. The toothpastes from Brush Baby are the only branded Xylitol toothpastes on the market.

Chewable toothbrush and teether £4.99

Poor Izebella seems to be constantly teething. Her first teeth did not appear until after her 1st birthday and have not stopped coming since then. This little chewable brush is designed to help soothe the gums of teething tots. It can be cooled in the fridge or teething gel can be put on it to soothe the gums.

It’s shape fits snuggly in tiny mouths and as it’s made of flexible silicone it easily bends to reach the very back molars and gums. It can be used with or without toothpaste and is also a good toothbrush for toddlers who refuse to let parents brush their teeth.

I am hoping the new products keep Izebellas teeth clean and free from major problems. I was heartbroken when Ryan had to have teeth out at such a young age. I don’t want to put another child through that.

It’s a sad fact that 40% of under 5s in the UK have some form of dental decay. Only regular trips to the dentist, along with good early oral hygiene and a good diet can prevent this.
