Portlebay Popcorn review & Competition

I do love my popcorn, but become bored by the same old flavours. Either salty or sweet. There just isn’t enough choice for this great stuff.
I was therefore delighted to have the chance to sample some very unique popcorn flavours from Portlebay popcorn

20140403-124403.jpg.

Portlebay popcorn are based in Devon. Their popcorn is also known as Kracklecorn and is popped by hand. Raw cane sugar is added as the grains are popping giving the popcorn a unique taste that has a more crunchy and brittle texture than other varieties.
The popcorn comes in five unique flavours.

Kracklecorn Classic

A combination of sugar and salt. I found it more sweet than salty with a lovely crunch. This flavour will be enjoyed by anyone who likes popcorn.

Wasabi & Sweet ginger

I thought this was really unusual. It reminded me of a very strong ginger beer drink with kick. Very zingy, almost like a tangy lime flavour to it, or maybe my taste buds getting confused.

Applewood Smoked Cheddar

Lots of smokey cheesy goodness in this bag. Almost like cheesy crackers.

Chilli & Lime

This flavour certainly packs a feiry kick and will certainly be enjoyed by spice lovers.

Crispy Bacon & Maple Syrup

20140403-125707.jpg
This is my overall favourite flavour. Lots of sweetness, almost like buttery caramel. With the odd salty bite and a light bacon flavour in the background too. The flavour works really well. Reminds me gammon with honey glaze.

If you like the look of it and thinking you wouldn’t mind trying it yourself, then read on as you may just get your wish.
