I have had the pleasure of sampling some rather delicious things whilst blogging and have put together a list of extra special luxury treats all at low cost and all to make Christmas that tiny bit more amazing.
1) Tea & Jam (L'Orchidee)
There's nothing like waking up on Christmas morning to the delightful sound of happy children opening presents. The sound of paper and the shouts and squeals. Breakfast is often forgotten amid all the chaos. This year why not treat yourself to something a little more luxurious be it for breakfast, supper or lunch with L'Orchidee Boutique. They sell a range of delicious treats such as cakes and macaroons. They also have a tempting range of fine jams and conserves. I was sent the Blackcurrant and Port Jelly and Raspberry & Ameretto Jam. Both taste absolutely delicious with very fine distinct flavours. They go great with desserts, crackers, toast and could probably be used to make other things too. They would also be nice gifts, perhaps part of a hamper.
L'Orchidee also stocks a fine range of tempting teas. Whether you prefer black tea, fruit tea, white tea, artisan ranges or others they have a lot to choose from. The teas come in little tea bags in individual bags wrapped carefully with ribbon and look very exquisite. There is a very British Buckingham Palace Garden Party tea which one thinks tastes divine.
2) Famous Shortbread & Mince Pies (Walkers)
Walkers have been baking delicious shortbread for over a hundred years up in the village of Arbelour in Scotland one may come across the sweet smell of baking from their famous factory. Their products are well known for their distinct tartan packaging. As well as their famous shortbread, other products from Walkers include mince pies, oatcakes, biscuits and lots more.
Christmas wouldn't be the same without mince pies and shortbread and Walkers have bought out some special products in time for the festive season as well as continuing with a few we'll known favourites.
Festive shapes come in both packets and collectible tins and are delicious creamy buttery shortbread in shapes such as Father Christmas, Christmas trees, reindeer. Three will be very popular with my children I think. Mini Festive stars would be great at any Christmas party and the Christmas Tree Tin contains lots of pure butter shortbread mini Christmas trees. Excellent as a gift or why not leave a mini tree out for Santa on Christmas Eve. Ecclefechan Tarts are baked in the heart of the Scottish highlands. They are packed with fruits and almonds and traditionally served warm with cream making them perfect for an after dinner treat. Or perfect with a warm drink. Luxury Miniature Mincemeat Tarts produced with the finest ingredients and perfect warm with cream or custard. Mince pies/tarts are a long established Christmas food and Walkers definitely make the best ones. Glenfiddich Luxury Mincemeat Tarts these are sure to go down well with the faults at Christmas. They are made from all butter pastry which is packed with fine mincemeat and infused with 12 year old Glenfiddich single malt scotch whisky.
